*throws two cents into fountain and takes a deep breath* Yang and Adam are not only perfect foils to one another because of their similar Semblances, their partnership with Blake or their position as a sort of role model to a younger individual (Yang with Ruby and Adam with Blake back in the WF) but that they both represent fire; Yang’s hair ignites when she activates her Semblance and Adam uses a sword made of fire Dust. Their aesthetic colours are both associated with fire - Yang with the colour yellow which usually symbolises happiness, while Adam is associated with red which symbolises anger. When Yang and Adam first meet, the cafeteria’s walls have the light of fire glowing off them and in the Volume 4 Opening Yang falls into a fiery pit with Adam in the background. In conclusion, Yang represents the positive attributes of fire; light, warmth and growth, whereas Adam represents the negative aspects; instability, danger and destruction.
